Got Snow?

Yep, we sure do!

Warning: Those of you residing in the Great White North, just move on over to a warm climate blog now. You will not find the following in the least bit interesting!

When I last posted, we had over 50 inches of snow on the ground. H had managed to plow most of it off the drive way and door yard. We then had another 6 inches of light fluffy stuff which we plowed 3 inches of until it got dark and looked like it was letting up. Oh, the snow let up all right, but then came the sleet, freezing rain and rain. We awoke to a good 4 inches of crunchy ice. Not fun. Our steep driveway was a sheet of crunchy ice and the truck barely made it to the top of the hill. "Uncle"!!! We called our trusty local plow guy and had him come widen and sand the drive. H went out this morning and shoveled the dam the state plow made at the top of the drive.

It's been a long week.

This is the view from the top of the driveway

That little piece of wood sticking up behind me is our sign post at the top of the drive. The box for the newspaper is buried under the snow, so the paper delivery person is just chucking the paper in the middle of the drive these days.

The front gate hasn't been closed in weeks!

Our little garden weather station is all but buried under three feet of snow.

I think this view is a whole lot better. But, as the saying goes, we wouldn't appreciate spring nearly as much if we didn't have winter.

Besides shoveling snow, I've been busy knitting away on a Fair Isle v-neck cardigan. I'm finished with the body and am now working on the first sleeve.

Hope everyone is staying warm out there and as you may expect, I'm reading a lot of southern blogs these days!

Life is GGGGood!

Hugs, Giddy

I can relate to snow like you do, though I don't think we have quite as much as you do. Love the sweater, which is turning out great. Keep smiling.

OMG, I can't imagine. Hey, you get some serious exercise just walking through the snow not to mention clearing it. Your sweater is going to be very pretty.Love to crochet but lousy at knitting.

Oh, good grief---I was posting a long comment and I got the google error screen! ARRRGGGGG....suffice it to say my yard looks very similar -- on the radio this morning they said we had 7.6 inches so far.

Looks the same here, but we aren't that far from you either. We haven't had any of that rain or mix like you have had. Hubby spent a good part of the weekend on the tractor pushing back the snow to widen the driveway which is 900' long. It's groundhog day today so we hope that he has seen his shadow or is the other way and we hope that he hasn't seen it (smile). Oh well, only six weeks left of winter!

Great looking sweater. Wish I had that kind of talent.

Uh huh! We have snow....but you have more! It looks like we've missed out on that latest storm, thank you very much. The snowbanks and piles are huge at school and in the village. The kids are having a ball snowshoeing for gym, but the plow guys are wondering where they'll put more snow if/when we get it.
We have 3 piles at the bottom of our driveway instead of the usual one.
Your cardigan is coming along nicely. Keep those fingers flying, and keep shoveling! :)
You and H sure work off all that great food!

Thanks, everyone for your kind comments. I know most of you are in the same situation with all the snow. Like GL, we have a very long driveway - 550 feet and it's uphill all the way! We fondly refer to it as "The Luge".

We still have a few more months of winter (the leaves on the trees don't begin to pop til late May!!!

It's the cold that got to me. We only have 2 feet of snow but the temps have hovered at subzero temps for weeks just like the olden days. We got used to the 'mild' winters of the last decade and our firewood supply reflected that - and now we're just about out.
