It's Getting Away from Me

It's amazing how much a garden can grow in just a few days with warm weather and a bit of rain.

We returned after being away for six days to find things blooming and weeds running amok! In addition to needing to get to the garden right away, we also had our annual 4 cords of firewood delivered and it needed to be stacked.

Needless to say, we've been very busy.

Everything is so lush and green after the long, snowy winter

We're going to have to take our time stacking this mountain of firewood. We're not as young as we used to be. In fact, H just celebrated his 61st birthday yesterday. Only one more year til social security sets in!

The clematis "Firecracker" is beginning to bloom. She's a beautiful focal point in the garden.

This little fella was kind enough to sit still for a close up.

Life is good in the gardenSaved

Hugs, Giddy

I had to come and see your butterfly. Did you notice how good both yours and mine look? Some of them I get coming through the garden are pretty tattered. I guess that is later in the year, though.

That is one big pile of wood. Do you guys stack in one of those cone looking piles I see around Maine?

H made a bunch of racks for the wood, so we stack it all over the place. In October, we'll move a couple of cords into the garage so we can get to it if we have another winter like this past one.

Hi Giddy,
"Firecracker" is quite lovely. Everything really does look lush and green. It's so great to get enough rain for a change (at least in my yard).

It looks like you had H will get plenty of exercise this summer with all that wood to stack!

A belated happy birthday to your hubby!
Oh I know well how quickly a garden can get away from you! I'm at the 'don't know where to start' point...and the lawn needs mowing again! But yes, lush and green we have, and it's gorgeous! :)
Your Firecracker looks a lot like my Carnaby, which is blooming beautifully now too.
Don't overdo and hurt yourselves stacking that huge pile of wood!
I've been photographing Tiger Swallowtails lately too. They're very cooperative. I noticed Sandy's comment about the tattered butterflies. I took photos of one today that had only half of its left wing, poor thing.
