A journal documenting the trials and tribulations of gardening on the rocky coast of Downeast Maine. My attempt at keeping in touch with my many friends and loved ones who live all across the nation.

We've Only Just Begun
I was humming these lovely Karen Carpenter lyrics as I was raking out the perennial beds this afternoon. I made the mistake of stepping out into the yard to enjoy the sunshine and found myself bending over to yank out a few dead daylilly stems. As you can imagine, one thing led to another and the next thing I knew, I had shed my jacket, gotten out the rake and clippers from the garage and went to work. Two hours and several huge piles of debris later, I realized that I was going to be one sore garden gnome tomorrow! Now, it only remains to decide where to put all this debris. Last year's compost is full and I need to start a new one.Ah well, that's tomorrow's dilemma. I think I'll just sit down and knit for a while. "-)
Isn't it great to get out and breathe the fresh air? I managed to get a little clean-up and weeding done yesterday, but today we had heavy, wet snow and cold temps again. They're forcasting the same weather for another week!
Gardening and knitting fanatic! I love digging in the dirt (what little I have of it!) My zone 5 garden is located on 2 1/2 heavily wooded, rocky acres on the coast of Downeast Maine and is shared by Hubby and our two cats, Spike and Sluggo. When unable to garden, I love to knit, cook, pursue my photograpy, bake and read numerous other blogs.

Good morning, Giddy.
I hope you have recovered from all that garden work!
Oh but you had fun, didn't you! Looking forward to seeing the progress of your garden...
Did you sleep with Benjamin Gay last night?
My garden is still too wet, but I am sure I will be out by the end of the week.
