Beauty in the Fog

A week or so ago, we awoke to find a fog bank hanging over the bay. Not to be deterred in our plans for a walk at Schoodic, we hopped in the car and headed out despite the fog slowly creeping our way.
Much to our surprise, the fog was beautiful! The quiet serenity of walking in the park, surrounded by the cool mist was quite a calming experience.

Things that we would not have normally noticed, stood out starkly against the veiled curtain.

Even the flowers seemed to enjoy the warm mist. These oxeye daisies were happy.

As were these rugosa roses among the rocks......

and the beach peas........

and the irises.

In the quiet, muted fog, one's senses tend to take notice of things we may normally pass by and take for granted. It's good to slow down and smell the salty sea.

Life is Good!

Hugs, Giddy

That must have been a beautiful walk, Giddy. I enjoy just being out in my back field on a foggy morning.
You got some great shots.

I think a walk in the fog on a warm summer day would be quite delightful--especially in your beautiful part of the country.

Giddy, Maine is one of our absolute favorite places. We have camped on Schoodic Point. What a lovely place. You are so blessed to live right there.

It was a great walk. We were all alone out there in the fog and it was so peaceful, and yes, we feel so fortunate to live up here, despite last winter's 125 inches of snow!

I am vicariously enjoying your walk. Sounds so calming. (and it's been hotter than blazes here!)

I enjoyed the ''view'.

Yes, the fog and beach peas and iris are lovely, and life is good.
Fog shrouds landscapes in a bit of mystery, evoking the moors of Conan Doyle's stories.

That first picture is beautiful. Eerie and peaceful at the same time. I think an artist would love to paint that scene.

I wish I could smell the salty sea :) You've captured the fog beautifully in your photos. I love those pretty beach flowers.
We've had some foggy mornings lately, and last night was a little foggy as well. It looked so beautiful as the sun went down. I tried capturing it with my camera, but alas, I wasn't successful.

It's such a respite to look at the serenity and coolness of the FOG photos you posted. In the middle of being in the sweltering 90-degree (and over) weather, it's really wonderful to take a break from it by just looking at these fantastic photos.
Does it ever get hot (over 80's or 90's) in Maine?
BTW, I love your blog.
