She's reinstalling all her software and reconfiguring her computer because a Vista Upgrade crashed her @#$$%& hard drive! Thank you very much, Bill Gates!
I lost lots of photos, but thanks to Blogger, I have the most important ones on my blog. Most importantly, however, I have learned a very big lesson - BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP! From now on, I will be backing up my PC on a regular basis. While my information is not on the same level as national security, it represents hours and hours of my time and I hated to lose any of it.
I also lost all of the contact and email information in my Windows Mail, so if any of you out there need me to contact you, please send me an email so I can reload your address into my Contacts List.
Ah well, on to more pleasant issues.
I have completed three pairs of mittens and took a class in Fair Isle knitting. Our project was a small bag. It was quite interesting and I may attempt it again one day, but not before my fingers untangle themselves!
The mittens are incredibly easy and I love the pattern.
This week we are finally beginning to see a spring thaw. Last night, we had almost 2 inches of rain and much of the snow is gratefully, showing significant melting. Now, if we could just have an early spring so this past winter can begin slowly fading in my memory.
The bay was looking particularly wild yesterday morning. It was low tide and the clouds were zipping by with a sporty wind. Obviously not a good day for kayaking!
However, it doesn't hurt to be reminded of wonderful paddles to come!

I feel your pain! However, I lost my info & computer to a power surge days after Christmas. I can't blame Bill this time...but there were other times! Glad to see you back in the game. You were missed.
There is nothing in life more frustrating than computer problems. (Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration.) At least it happened when the weather was lousy & you didn't lose any gardening time because of it.
So glad you're back! I don't blog, but love to read about your life in Downeast Maine. My husband and I hope to move to an area in Downeast Maine called Prospect Harbor as soon as our house sells (not a good time to be trying to sell). We have lived all of our 54 years in a small town in Alabama so it will be quite an adventure! Thank you again for your blog and beautiful pictures.
Sorry to hear about the crash, Giddy. I did the Mac version of it last year. Now, I store my photos on discs, 300 at a time. And, I print off my mail list once in a while.
We got rain, too, lots of it. Right now, we are at that dirty snow phrase of spring, but I did see some daffodils coming up down at the library at the other end of Scarborough today.
Beutiful mittens, esp the black ones!
Hi everyone, and thanks for commenting. I swear, I have been in blogging withdrawal from this crash! So nice to hear from all of you.
Yes, I am happy that I didn't have to spend valuable gardening time dealing with this crash. I still have issues with which to contend, but most things are up and running again.
Anonymous, please email me at acadiacove@wildblue.net. I would love to correspond with you. Our town of Gouldsboro is comprised of 5 villages, one of which is Prospect Harbor. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Oh, also, Hubby is from Alabama originally!
Sandy, I'm still waiting for the first crocus to pop it's head out of the frozen ground. It's only a matter of time. In the meantime, I'm enjoying your beautiful photos!
Oh poor Giddy! We were wondering where you were. Funny how we worry when we haven't heard from our dear blog friends for a while.
I began backing up regularly When my last computer began acting up. I store my photos on DVDs because they have more room than CDs. I also purchased an external HD recently and use that for storage.
I knitted a couple of Fair Isle sweaters years ago (I used to knit a lot before I was married) and enjoyed it, but it's hard to do it and watch TV :) Your mittens and bag are great!
That cove looks wonderful no matter what the weather. I love that place!!
How frustrating it is to have computer problems! We seem to become so dependent on them for so many things. I had loads of problems with Vista at first, but thankfully all seems well now.
Loved seeing your photos..
hugs
Oh Giddy, I hate that you are fighting with the computer. I thought maybe you might be buried under all that snow and couldn't get out.
I always think of computers as necessary evils. We learned the hard way to back up too.
Congrats on your near retirement. It will be fun to have no constraints this spring and summer.
Hope those computer problems are all sorted out now.
I love the mittens and bag you just made.
Glad you found The Crafty Side of me as well as
The Gardener Side.
Hi, Giddy...Tell John M. & I do enjoy his paintings. Does he have a web page where we can see other paintings? Take care. Harvey
Sometimes its really easy to really dislike technology! Glad you're getting things back together, and um, thanks for the reminder to back-up.
